NEW DRESSING ROOMS OPEN
The new GAA club dressing rooms were used for the first time on Friday night last when Mayobridge entertained neighbours Clonduff in Division One of the league. The design of the building is a tribute to the hard working club officials who had the foresight to see the scheme through to its conclusion and to all those who have helped to raise the necessary funds to ensure its completion. A feature of the building is a club crest set in terrazzo on the floor of the downstairs entrance, which was both designed and completed by local artisans. Then on Sunday from 3.00pm, the people of Mayobridge and GAA supporters had the opportunity to view the facilities at first hand. Everyone was impressed with the "state of the art" facilities and we now hope that the Mayobridge GAA teams have the success they deserve in league and championship.
SUMMER SCHEME
The first week of the Summer Scheme was a great success with a big crowd attending the magician on Tuesday last and an equally big turnout for the trip to the Tain centre on Wednesday. This week, the club visits the W5 exhibition at the Odyssey Centre in Belfast, Lisburn Leisure Centre and Newry Omniplex.
SINGING IN THE SUNSHINE STATE
Away in sunny Florida, a daughter of Mayobridge, Tracy Sands is making quite a name for herself in the entertainment industry. Tracy has just released her second CD entitled "Enchanted" which is a follow up to her very successful "Voice on the Line" which she released two years ago.
Along with Rod McDonald, a colleague and friend of Bob Dylan, Tracy has performed all through southern Florida, north as far as Boston and a number of times in the Cayman Islands. She was recently home in Mayobridge and has now returned to the United States for a series of singing engagements. Tracy, along with numerous other very talented singers and musicians in the Mayobridge area was influenced and encouraged by the late Miss Una McArdle who spent very many years as a teacher in Mayobridge Primary School.
