Legendz Cayman Island FOR October 2006

St Patrick’s Day revelers will be getting in full swing tomorrow but the party in the Cayman Islands began last week. Courtesy of Legendz’s, A Rock’n Irish music lovers got the chance to hear some real Irish music from Tracy Sands.

And it was more than just a bit of whack for my daddy-o.

The colleen from County Down in Northern Ireland wowed audiences with her mix of Irish Folk and contemporary music. During her three and a half hour performance last Thursday she gave a rousing performance of Whiskey in the Jar and a breathtaking performance of the world famous “Danny Boy” which no doubt will be sung many times during the weekend.

The mother of two was not short of Irish Blarney either and on stage it was if she really knew the people in the audience. She moved to Florida in 1995 and ironically it was there that her career really began. She has played a heap of festivals including Sunfest in West Palm Beach.

“It was wonderful”she said.

So what’s next? In May she takes to the stage of the Florida Folk Festival in Tallahassee and then in July she is off to Ohio for another festival. Tracy has two albums out –the first she says is more traditional Irish and the second album “Enchanted” however is a bit more contemporary Irish.
